The bonus is to recognize the “extraordinary efforts of staff and management in providing service to members throughout the pandemic, the credit union said. “As we mark the one-year anniversary of the COVID-19 pandemic, we applaud the resilience of not just our own team but teams across the country,” SECU added.

“The $1,000 bonus approved by our board of directors is to recognize and thank our SECU team for their dedication and extra efforts to provide excellent service to our members throughout the many challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic,” said President/CEO Mike Lord. “This past year has been one of the most difficult periods in the history of SECU, our state and our nation.  Our staff made many adjustments to continue helping members during their time of need.  All this while their own lives were disrupted and under stress.  Our employees handled a record surge in mortgage lending, the influx of stimulus payments, the quick adjustment to working from home, PPE and more, all while demonstrating the credit union philosophy of people helping people. I could not be more proud of them.”

The $47.3-billion State Employees CU has approximately 2.54 million members.
