SAN DIEGO–The only credit union-sponsored college bowl game will be played tonight—and in a stadium named after the same credit union.
The San Diego County Credit Union Holiday Bowl will kick off at 9 p.m. ET/6 p.m. PT at, appropriately enough, San Diego County Credit Union Stadium.
The game is a good matchup, with the 9-3 Michigan State Spartans of the Big 10 squaring up against the 9-3 Washington State Cougars. The Spartans are known for their defense, while the Cougars are known for their prolific “Air Raid” offense.
This is the first year San Diego County Credit Union has sponsored the Holiday Bowl. It has in years past been the sponsor of the now-defunct Holiday Bowl, which is played in the same stadium. That stadium, formerly known as Qualcomm Stadium, is now named after the credit union after SDCCU bought naming rights earlier this year for $500,000.
The game will air on Fox.
