SDCCU, Cal Coast Jointly Seek More Time In Ongoing Merger Litigation

SAN DIEGO—The legal dispute between San Diego County Credit Union and California Coast Credit Union has been delayed, with the next management conference now pushed from May 22 to June 26, according to information provided to CUToday.info by California Coast.

The postponement comes after both parties jointly requested the continuance, Cal Coast said. The conference had originally been scheduled following California Superior Court Judge Carolyn Caietti’s April 30 ruling denying Cal Coast’s request for a preliminary injunction that would have required SDCCU to continue operating under the merger agreement tied to the proposed $13-billion combination.

As previously reported by CUToday.info, the court found Cal Coast failed to show it was likely to succeed on the merits and cited evidence of “widespread institutional compliance issues” at the credit union. The latest delay suggests both organizations continue to avoid immediate escalation in the litigation while evaluating next steps in the high-profile merger dispute.
