WASHINGTON–House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-WI) said the House will vote on the Economic Growth, Regulatory Relief and Consumer Protection Act (S. 2155), which has been the subject of a full-court press by both credit unions and banks.
Ryan’s comments came as part of a press conference during which he said the House and Senate are working on additional regulatory relief legislation. That could be a reference to a way to move the legislation forward after it has already passed the Senate, but members of the House indicated they wanted certain amendments added related to other regulatory relief provisions. Those statements by House members led to members of the Senate to say any changes made to the bill as passed by the Senate would likely scuttle it.
“We thank Speaker Ryan for his commitment to moving forward with this vital piece of bipartisan regulatory relief legislation,” Nussle said. “Timing now is more critical than ever for credit union stakeholders to contact their representatives to urge support for this bill in order to capitalize on this momentum and move this bill to the finish line.”
