EAU CLAIRE, Wis. – Royal Credit Union is partnering with the University of Minnesota Golden Gophers during the 2016-17 men’s basketball and men’s hockey seasons.
In partnership with Gopher Athletics at the University of Minnesota, Royal CU is sponsoring the Gopher Men’s Hockey series against rival University of Wisconsin Badgers in Mariucci Arena on Feb. 24 at 7 and Feb. 25. Royal said it will be running an on-ice promotion during each game and offering giveaways through an interactive booth in the concourse which will feature their new Smart Connection young adult program.
“I’ve been doing financial education outreach on the U’s campus since September 2016 so I can’t wait for this partnership to kick off with Gopher Athletics,” said Veronica Nelson, Minnesota Smart Connection intern and a senior at the University of Minnesota. “Royal Credit Union offers helpful resources and I know my peers will benefit from this exposure.”
In addition to the Gopher men’s hockey series, Royal is teaming up with Gopher Athletics for the University of Minnesota vs. University of Wisconsin men’s basketball game on Jan. 21. The Smart Connection powered by Royal Credit Union will be connecting with fans in the Williams Arena concourse, offering financial education resources and giveaways.
As part of the Smart Connection #ConnectWithRoyal campaign, fans can visit the Smart Connection booth at Williams Arena to enter to win a Royal Credit Union Prepaid Visa gift card, the credit union said.
“It’s a really exciting time for our Smart Connection team,” said Megan Larsen, Smart Connection team lead. “In this partnership with Gopher Athletics, we’ll be having meaningful conversations with fans and students about Royal’s suite of products and services designed specifically for them—the 18 to 25 year-old crowd. What’s even better is that our Smart Connection #ConnectWithRoyal campaign kicks off at the Gophers men’s basketball game. At our interactive booth, students get the chance to win cash and prizes just for taking a smart step toward their financial future.”
