Robbers Pull ATM From Moorings, Drag It Behind Truck

ST. LOUIS, Saskatchewan, Canada—Thieves ripped an ATM out of the wall of an Affinity Credit Union branch here this weekend, getting away with the machine and the cash inside, paNOW reported.

The crime happened early Sunday morning and neighbors who live near the CU reported they saw the incident.

One man told paNOW he heard a loud crash and then when she went outside to see what was going on, she saw three men in a white Dodge truck backed up to the front door of the bank. The men smashed the front door of the CU and attached yellow tow rope to the ATM.

"I see the truck take a run at it and the rope broke, so they had to do it again," she told the website.

The second attempt was successful and the crooks escaped dragging the ATM behind the truck down the road.

Another neighbor told paNOW the men stopped the truck several times and attempted to lift the ATM into the back of the truck, but the machine was too heavy.

A second pickup truck was also seen arriving to help the first group of thieves, paNOW said. Both trucks were last seen heading east on Highway 25.

CBC News reported that Saskatchewan Mounties found the ATM, but not the money inside the machine, which is missing.
