Robber Arrives To Find Branch Empty

CHUBBUCK, Idaho—A man allegedly attempting to rob a branch of ISU Credit Union here found the facility empty when he arrived. According to police, tellers who saw him approaching, thought he looked suspicious and triggered a silent alarm before fleeing the branch prior to suspect Randy Jordan entering the branch.

“I think when (Jordan) realized that he was standing there all alone, that everyone else had left the building, he decided maybe it wasn’t such a good idea,” Chubbuck, Idaho, Police Chief Randy Severe told local media. No money was taken.

Jordan is suspected of a separate, earlier robbery of ISU Credit Union, and also an earlier robbery of Global Credit Union, for which he has been indicted. He was arrested after police had a local woman lure him to a meeting at an Applebee’s, where police were waiting.

After being taken into custody, Jordan told police he had a pipe bomb in his car, which was in the Pocatello Police Dept. impound lot. A dog confirmed the presence of the bomb, and the sheriff’s department was called in to destroy the device.
