NEW YORK–CurrentC, the payments app that has been created by the Merchant Customer Exchange, will be unveiled and available to consumers in August, at least in trial form.
Bloomberg is reporting that CurrentC, a rival to Apple Pay, is on target for a Q3 introduction. The payments app is being funded by numerous large retailers, including Best Buy, Target and Walmart, where it will appear in a limited run next month, Bloomberg reported. It will also be competing for attention against Google’s payments solution. CurrentC has already experienced at least one glitch, having been hacked in 2013 while in testing.
