Registration Opens for NCUA DEI Summit

ALEXANDRIA, Va. – NCUA has opened registration for its third summit focused on diversity, equity, and inclusion. The event, to be held both in-person and virtually, is scheduled for Nov. 2 – 4.

The theme of this year’s summit is All-In on DEI & ACCESS. ACCESS represents NCUA’s initiative for Advancing Communities through Credit, Education, Stability, and Support.

NCUA said the two-and-a-half day, free event will “bring together professionals from credit unions and other stakeholders to promote the value proposition of diversity, equity, and inclusion for the credit union industry; share DEI and financial inclusion best practices; develop solutions to industry-specific challenges; and network with one another.”

“Diversity, equity, and inclusion are vital to strategy, sustainable growth, innovation, talent acquisition, and retention throughout the financial services system,” Chairman Todd M. Harper said. “To help credit unions advance DEI, the 2022 Summit will bring together prominent speakers to share their thought leadership on DEI. This year, we will also have a special track designed to support credit unions designated as minority depository institutions. Whether you are a DEI advocate or an MDI credit union, or both, this event is a can’t miss opportunity.”

The Summit will include panel discussions with experts and practitioners in diversity, equity, and inclusion along with fireside chats, roundtables, and keynote speakers.

The Sessions

Session topics cover a wide range of DEI-related areas such as how to build and sustain a successful DEI program, how to advocate for equity in the workplace, cryptocurrency and the unbanked, digital access, and inclusive lending. The third day of the Summit will feature a workshop with a specific focus on Minority Depository Institutions and the financial health disparities facing different communities.

The in-person portion of this hybrid event will take place at the Hilton Washington Dulles Airport in Herndon, Va.
