‘Reframe the Shame’: NCUA to Co-Host Webinar Today on Financial Crimes Against Older Adults

ALEXANDRIA, Va.–To mark Older Americans Month, NCUA said it is partnering with AARP and the CFPB to host a webinar today that addresses how society views and talks about financial crimes against older adults.

The webinar, “Reframe the Shame: A Conversation About Financial Crimes Against Older Adults,” is scheduled for 1 p.m. ET.

Registration for the webinar, which is free, is available here.

According to the agency, AARP will discuss how society views and treats victims of frauds and scams, the language used when discussing frauds and scams against older Americans, and the detrimental impact it may have on this population, especially when reporting financial crimes.

The NCUA and CFPB will share best practices and resources available to raise awareness and reduce the potential for financial crimes against older adults.
