HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — An internal system error at Redstone Federal Credit Union here unexpectedly caused some business debit cards to be declined last week, leaving local business owners scrambling and frustrated by a lack of communication from the credit union, WAFF reported.
Business owners such as Maralyn and Evan Fryberger, who run 1111 Jewelry Store in Huntsville, said told WAFF they were caught off guard when their business debit card was rejected despite sufficient available funds. Maralyn Fryberger told the news outlet she received an error message indicating the card had been stopped and was only told by credit union staff that multiple business accounts were affected.
In a brief statement obtained by WAFF, Redstone Federal Credit Union acknowledged the incident, saying, “We recently experienced an internal error that affected debit cards for a limited number of our business members. All affected accounts have been fully restored. We regret the inconvenience this caused and appreciate our members’ patience as we quickly worked to resolve the matter.”
The Frybergers told WAFF they do not plan to leave the credit union but would have appreciated more proactive communication about the issue and assurances it won’t recur. Redstone officials did not provide an exact number of businesses affected.
