Quick-Thinking Employee Helps Shut Out Robber

MADISON–A quick-thinking employee of WEA Credit Union here is being credited for helping prevent a robbery.

Madison Police said the employee moved to lock the door when an armed, masked man attempted to enter the credit union.

A suspect, Jazzmond Stanley, 36, was later arrested and charged with attempted armed robbery, being a felon in possession of a firearm, and numerous traffic citations, according to the Wisconsin State Journal.

According to police, the credit union employee saw the suspect park suspiciously in the lot, then exit the vehicle wearing a white bandanna over his face.

"The employee immediately locked the front doors of the credit union," Police Chief Scott Gregory told the Wisconsin State Journal. "The suspect attempted to gain entry but was unable to, and immediately entered his vehicle and fled."

When Stanley was apprehended police said they found a white bandanna, black wig and hat in his vehicle. A handgun was found lying on a sidewalk is believed to have been tossed out of the suspect's car just before he was stopped by the officer, according to police.
