WASHINGTON–Credit unions will need to keep in mind guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control as they look to reopen branches and lobbies.
In addition, credit unions also need to follow any local/state rules.
The CDC has recently issued Reopening Guidance for Cleaning and Disinfecting Public Spaces, Workplaces, Businesses, Schools, and Homes, which can be found here.
Any credit union looking to clean, disinfect and prepare a branch or other public space will need a plan not just for reopening, but for maintenance, as well as provisions to protect those who are doing the cleaning.
Cleaning staff will need to be protected not just from the virus, but from any toxic effects of cleaning chemicals, and will require appropriate personal protective equipment for cleaning and disinfecting.
Credit unions are also being reminded to pay particular attention to surfaces that are most frequently touched, including tables, doorknobs, light switches, countertops, handles, desks, phones, keyboards, toilets, faucets and sinks and ATMs.
Additional CDC guidance for businesses and employers can be found here.
