Premier Members CU Becomes First in State to be Certified by Colorado Green Business Network

BROOMFIELD, Colo.–Premier Members Credit Union (PMCU) is reporting it has become the first credit union in the state to be certified by the Colorado Green Business Network (CGBN), which has recognized the credit union’s years of sustainability work with the highest level of recognition in the program, the Gold Membership.

PMCU said it achieved the recognition by demonstrating greenhouse gas emission reductions from its buildings, through “generous support” of environmental sustainability and environmental justice organizations in Colorado, and with its equitable business practices both internally and externally.

17% Decrease

“Since 2019, our sustainability program has overseen a 17% decrease in the greenhouse gas intensity of PMCU buildings and increased renewable energy access across the board to over 20% of total electricity consumption,” said PMCU’s Senior Sustainability Specialist Garrett Chappell. “We have also re-invested over $70,000 to local grassroots organizations across all our member communities fighting to preserve Colorado’s environment and the well-being of our families and neighbors.”

The $1.7-billion Premier Members CU will be recognized alongside their fellow sustainable businesses at the Colorado Green Business Network Event on Sept. 29.
