BRADENTON, Fla.–Police here have arrested a suspect in connection with a robbery at a credit union during which shots were fired.
According to the Bradenton Police Department, a suspect is in custody and charged with several crimes related to the robbery of a branch of floridacentral Credit Union.
Police said the man, whose name has not been released, was carrying a small handgun and fired two shots into the ceiling. The man made statements about it being a robbery, according to spokesman Lt. Brian Thiers.
Police said they are not sure who made the call to notify them of the robbery in progress.
The suspect allegedly jumped over a counter, took an undisclosed amount of money and fled the scene without injuring anyone.
Just before 5 p.m., the suspect’s vehicle was found by Manatee County Sheriff’s deputies in Bradenton, according to Thiers. The suspect was found moments later a couple blocks away and arrested.
