Pennsylvania's CUs to be Part of 'Pioneering' Program Aimed at Reducing Recidivism

HARRISBURG, Penn.–The Pennsylvania Credit Union Foundation will be part of an effort being launched by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania to reduce inmate recidivism rates among athletes.

The new effort will be announced during a press conference on Thursday at the headquarters of Pennsylvania State Employees Credit Union. Scheduled to be on hand for the announcement are representatives of the state, including Secretary of Banking and Securities Robin L. Wiessmann, Board of Probation and Parole Chairman Leo L. Dunn, and Bureau of Community Corrections Director George Little. Also to be in attendance at the announcement is Pennsylvania Credit Union Foundation Executive Director Kathleen Fey and Pennsuvlnai Housing Finance Agency Director of Development Holly Glauser.

The Pennsylvania CU Association said the parties will be announcing that five Financial Reality Fairs will be held on one day–Oct. 14–in Pennsylvania. The Reality Fairs will take place in Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Harrisburg, Erie, and Reading, and are to be part of what is being called a “pioneering program designed to reduce inmate recidivism.

During the press conference there will also be a demonstration of Financial Reality Fair and the Wheel of Reality.
