SCRANTON, Penn.–Penn East FCU has named a new president and CEO effective Aug. 1. The $262-million PEFFCU said it has selected Marie Beggin to lead the organization.
Beggin most recently served as VP-commercial and consumer lending and has more than 30 years’ experience in financial services.
“I’ve worked with Marie for six years now, and I’m happy to know that I’m leaving the credit union in the hands of someone as capable and competent as Marie,” said current CEO Jeff DeBree, who will be retiring at the end of July after 19 years.
In a statement, the credit union said throughout her tenure Beggin has demonstrated “exceptional leadership, guiding Penn East FCU commercial lending services through the challenges posed by the pandemic while spearheading numerous strategic branch initiatives. Her unwavering commitment to the credit union movement and the philosophy of people helping people has been a driving force behind the institution’s remarkable achievements.”
‘Honored & Humbled’
“I am honored and humbled to have been chosen as Penn East FCU’s CEO,” said Beggin. “I am deeply committed to our mission of serving our members and helping them achieve their financial goals. Together with our talented team, I look forward to building upon our successes and driving the credit union to new heights.”
