ST. PETERSBURG, Fla.—PSCU has entered into an agreement with the Worldwide Foundation for Credit Unions that the organization said is focused on expanding the impact of two critical leadership development programs: The Global Women’s Leadership Network and the World Council Young Credit Union Professionals Program.
Through the agreement, the Worldwide Foundation said PSCU will leverage its networks to address current and future challenges facing credit unions worldwide, such as COVID-19, digital financial inclusion and leadership inequality.
Worldwide Foundation for Credit Unions, the international development and charitable arm of World Council of Credit Unions, said it shares PSCU’s goal of leveraging digital services as solutions to credit unions in the face of COVID-19, while also fostering credit union leadership equality worldwide.
“PSCU and the Worldwide Foundation both value seeing leadership equality and digital transformation expand across the domestic and international credit union landscape,” said Mike Reuter, executive director of the Worldwide Foundation. “Both aid in overcoming current global challenges such as COVID-19, injustice, and unforeseen future barriers to credit union members and the movement as well.”
PSCU has also been providing content for World Council’s COVID-19 Resource Page aimed at helping WOCCU members and their credit unions address COVID-19-related issues as they arise, since the beginning of the pandemic.
The Initiatives
In its sponsorship of the Global Women’s Leadership Network and the World Council Young Credit Union Professionals (WYCUP) program, the initiatives and support will include:
- Support for the GWLN Executive Readiness Summit scheduled for Oct. 28-30 in Madison, Wis., which will include one scholarship for a GWLN member to participate.
- A Technical Guide featuring PSCU thought leadership on digitization for use as a resource by GWLN members and Sister Societies across the globe.
- WYCUP’s Global Youth Committee Model. “Financial well-being is a priority focus of PSCU's corporate social responsibility initiative and concurrently is a key component within the structure of the Sicredi (Brazil) Youth Committee model WYCUP seeks to pilot in domestic and international credit union systems,” the organizations said.
Alignment With CUSO
“As an associate member of the World Council of Credit Unions, PSCU is excited to expand our relationship with the Worldwide Foundation,” said Merry Pateuk, senior vice president, Industry Engagement at PSCU. “We look forward to working together in support of the financial well-being and digital transformation of credit unions, both through the COVID-19 pandemic and into the future. We are also proud to continue our support of Worldwide Foundation’s Global Women’s Leadership Network and extend our support to the World Council Young Credit Union Professionals program. These important programs are aligned with two of PSCU’s own employee resource groups and we are excited to collaborate as we work together to develop and empower female leaders and the next generation of credit union professionals.”
