ST. PETERSBURG, Fla.—PSCU will again be the lead sponsor of this weekend's high-profile Credit Union Cherry Blossom Ten Mile Run, which takes place among the well-known monuments and other attractions in the nation's capital. The event benefits Children's Miracle Network hospitals.
PSCU noted the 50-year-old race serves as a fundraiser for the consortium of 170 children's hospitals across the country. The race is set to go on April 2.
The company said it has now helped underwrite race expenses for the past 21 years to enable funds raised to further research and provide medical care for patients at Children's Miracle Network Hospitals. Since 2002, the Credit Union Cherry Blossom Ten Mile Run has raised and donated more than $10.6 million to the non-profit organization, treating millions of children across the U.S. and Canada.
Credit unions are the fifth largest fundraisers for Children's Miracle Network Hospitals nationwide.
"PSCU is honored to continue its longstanding partnership with Children's Miracle Network Hospitals and support their work to provide critical medical care and research to children in need," said Chuck Fagan, president and CEO of PSCU. "Through our participation in the Credit Union Cherry Blossom Ten Mile Run and Credit Union Miracle Day, we are proud to join industry partners in demonstrating the credit union difference on Capitol Hill, which exemplifies how credit unions help their communities thrive.”
Among this year’s more than 23,000 entrants, a group of PSCU employees will compete in the race known as the "Runner's Rite of Spring” – and many more will participate as on-site volunteers.
"The Credit Union Cherry Blossom Ten Mile Run continues to be a testament to the credit union industry's commitment to community service," said Merry Pateuk, SVP, industry engagement at PSCU. "In the spirit of the ‘people helping people’ philosophy, we are excited to once again serve as a lead sponsor for the 16th consecutive year and contribute to this impactful event’s success in 2023."
“The Credit Union Cherry Blossom Ten Mile Run is a complementary initiative to the public policy advocacy efforts of the Credit Union National Association (CUNA) and the National Association of Federally-Insured Credit Unions (NAFCU) trade associations. With over 600 Congressional staffers among the thousands of runners, the race elevates awareness of the credit union industry’s shared dedication to service and volunteerism,” PSCU said.
