SAN DIEGO–The two college teams that will square off in the San Diego Credit Union Holiday Bowl here have been selected. The Northwestern Wildcats will pay the University of Utah Utes on New Year’s Eve.
The game will be broadcast by Fox Sports 1.
Northwestern finished the season with an 8-5 record and ranked 22nd, having won the West Division of the Big 10 Conference before losing to Ohio State in the conference championship game.
Utah finished the season with a 9-4 record and ranked 17th, having won the PAC 12 South Division before losing to the University of Washington in the Conference championship game.
This will be the first year San Diego County Credit Union sponsors the Holiday Bowl. In prior years, it was the title sponsor of now discontinued Poinsettia Bowl, which was played in San Diego County Credit Union Stadium, formerly home to the San Diego (now Los Angeles) Chargers when it was known as Qualcomm Stadium.
