MUNCIE, Ind.—One of the founders of Ball State CU here has died at the age of 104. Edith Pittenger was only days away from reaching her 105th birthday.
Pittenger and six other Ball State employees founded the credit union in 1956, and Pittenger served as secretary/treasurer until 1988, then continued on the credit union board until 2004, the Star Press Reported.
Pittenger graduated from Ball State Teachers College in 1933, and worked at Ball State from 1948 to 1978, retiring with emeritus status and receiving the Administrative Staff Distinguished Service Award, the Star Press Reported.
To honor Pittenger, the CU’s lobby, branch, and phone service will be closed until noon on Friday. Drive-up service is available.
