One CU Moving Into New HQ, Another Sells Its Old Office, & Another Adds On

GURNEE, Ill.–One credit union has moved into a new corporate headquarters building, while another has sold its old one, and yet another has announced a major addition.

Abbott Laboratories Employees CU, better known as ALEC, has relocated into a new headquarters and accompanying branch less than a mile from its former location, where it has constructed a three-story building.

“We couldn’t be more excited about the new member service center,” ALEC president and CEO Joseph Trosclair told REBusiness Online. “It integrates new approaches and technologies that, together, enable ALEC to offer its members a best-in-class experience and improve their financial lives.”

The new member service center features the credit union’s first drive-through lanes, including interactive teller machines. The new service center also includes an advisor hallway to provide immediate access to investment and mortgage specialists.

The $800-million credit union has approximately 31,000 members.

Mission FCU Sells Building

Meanwhile, in San Diego, Mission Federal Credit Union has sold its long-time headquarters for $10.4-milion to Alvarez & Marsal Capital Real Estate. The 61,406-square-foot property features an entry lobby, open floor plans and an extensive glass line with hillside views. The buyer plans to convert the three-story building, which was built in 1985, into creative office space, REOnline reported.

Addition at Point Breeze

Finally, in Hunt Valley, Md., Point Breeze Credit Union said it plans to significantly expand its operations in the Baltimore area, doubling the size of its current Hunt Valley facility to better meet the needs of its members.

A new two-story, 20,000-square-foot addition to Point Breeze's current corporate offices at 11104 McCormick Road will increase its headquarters to 40,000 square feet while consolidating all of the credit union's administrative functions under one roof.

Approximately 30 administrative employees will relocate to the new building from Point Breeze's office in Rosedale.

Point Breeze said it is also remodeling the lobby area in its existing Hunt Valley office, combining member service workstations with the latest banking technology to enable Point Breeze members to get quicker, easier access while preserving the personalized service they have come to expect.

Employing its new "dialogue banking" service model, members will be personally greeted upon entering the office by a member service specialist who will be able to handle most of the member's needs without delay or referral to other staff members. Once work is complete, the Hunt Valley office will feature expanded parking and a new traffic light exit from the property onto nearby Wight Avenue.

"Point Breeze is experiencing record growth of new members and the number of loans we provide to our members," says President and CEO Bernard McLaughlin. "Our new, tech-savvy lobby and building expansion will enable us to better meet the financial needs of our members, while making it easier for us to provide easy, reliable banking to our members."
