IDAHO FALLS, Idaho–East Idaho Credit Union said it has entered into a partnership with local Culver’s restaurants to celebrate Arlene Walker Day, a day dedicated to honoring the contributions and legacy of the credit union’s first president and CEO.
The event will take place on July 8 at both Culver’s locations in Idaho Falls and Ammon, Idaho.
“Arlene Walker was a trailblazer in the credit union industry, beginning her remarkable career at East Idaho Credit Union in 1962 when the credit union’s only office space was located in the basement of the Idaho Falls post office,” the credit union said in a statement. “Throughout her 25-year tenure, Arlene exhibited unwavering determination, charisma, and remarkable vision that ultimately paved the way for the credit union’s growth and success.”
Led Growth
During her time at East Idaho Credit Union, the CU said Walker played a pivotal role in leading growth from $62,000 in assets to $33 million.
“Under her leadership, East Idaho Credit Union also became the state's third-largest credit union, a testament to her exceptional abilities and foresight,” EICU said.
To commemorate Walker’s achievements and her “profound impact” on the credit union, East Idaho said it is partnering with Culver’s, a “beloved and widely recognized restaurant” in the region, and inviting East Idahoans to join the credit union and Culver’s on July 8.
Scoop of Custard
Guests that make a $2 donation to the Arlene Walker Scholarship Fund will be able to enjoy a scoop of Culver’s fresh frozen custard, and will also receive $1 off Walker’s favorite sandwich, the Pork Loin Sandwich. Donations can be made at both Culver’s locations.
“We are thrilled to partner with Culver’s to honor Arlene Walker’s remarkable contributions to East Idaho Credit Union,” said Steven Foster, chief marketing officer at East Idaho Credit Union. “Arlene’s unwavering dedication and her vision for the future have truly shaped the credit union into what it is today. We invite the entire community to celebrate her legacy and enjoy a wonderful day with their friends and family.”
