WASHINGTON–Here’s what’s on the credit union agenda in Washington this week:
- With the House in recess, the Senate Banking Committee will hold a hearing on Consumer Data Security and the Credit Bureaus, which like several prior hearings in Congress, will largely focus on the Equifax breach.
- There is expected to be considerable debate in the Senate this week around the federal budget. The Senate must pass a budget and then that must be reconciled with the House budget as a precursor for any tax reform to take place.
- NCUA will hold a public briefing on its proposed 2018–2019 budget on Wednesday, Oct. 18, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. ET in the agency’s boardroom in Alexandria, Va. The agency earlier released its draft 2018-2019 budget during the week of Oct. 2. As CUToday.info reported here, the 2017-18 budget proposal reflects an increase of more than $8 million from the 2016 budget.
- The NCUA will hold its monthly board meeting on Thursday. On the agenda are proposed changes to stress testing and final rules for various appeal procedures.
