Officer Fires Shots, Turns Away CU Robbers

BURLESON, Texas—Two armed thieves attempted to rob an office of Fort Worth Community Credit Union here Monday, only to be turned away by gunfire from the CU’s security officer.

Burleson police are still looking for the two would-be robbers, masked and dressed in black from head to toe, who entered the Wilshire Boulevard branch of the $824-million FWCC Nov. 10 at 9:44 am. The pair entered the CU brandishing handguns and then shot in the direction of the security officer.

According to the Keene Star News, Keene Police Department Chief Rocky Alberti was working off-duty and shot back. The pair fled in a vehicle that was later discovered behind the credit union.

Several employees were inside the branch, but no members. No injuries were reported.

The robbers’ vehicle was reported stolen from Dallas. There was no information Monday about whether the suspects are male or female, or what they look like.

Police searched the area and had not located the pair Monday. Burleson police asked the school district to place its nearby campuses in standby lockdown, but the district decided to do so with all of its campuses.
