Numerous Hoosiers Recognized for Accomplishments by Indiana League

INDIANAPOLIS – The Indiana League has presented a number of honors.

Those honors include:

Hall of Fame Inductee & Professional Achievement Award

Kevin Willour, President/CEO of Beacon CU in Wabash, was inducted into the Indiana Credit Union Hall of Fame, and also received the League’s Professional Achievement Award, which recognizes Indiana credit union presidents/CEOs for their professional accomplishments, commitment to the credit union movement, and contributions to their credit union and community.

“In his 32 years with the credit union, he has expanded the field of membership to 50 Indiana counties, introduced several products and services, and led the first-of-its-kind credit union acquisition of an industrial ag lending company along with guiding multiple credit union mergers,” the league said. “During his tenure, Beacon CU’s assets have grown to over $1.5 billion with a membership of 46,000+, and it has achieved the distinction of being the largest agricultural credit union ag lender in the United States.”

Willour is a past chairman and current board member of American Share Insurance, which serves credit unions nationwide. He has also served on committees for the league, and he is a past president of the Financial Cooperative Association, a board member of the Honeywell Foundation, and president of the Wabash Kiwanis Club.

“Being inducted into the Indiana Credit Union Hall of Fame is an achievement that I share with my mentors, coworkers, and family, who all played an integral part in my career,” Willour said. “When I look at the list of others who have received this distinguished award in the past, I am humbled and honored to be included.”

Hall of Fame Inductee

Matt Lambert, CEO of Encompass FCU in Tipton, was inducted into the Indiana Credit Union Hall of Fame.

“His rise to the CEO position at his credit union fueled his passion and commitment to other young professionals at Indiana credit unions and inspired him to help establish the league’s Emerging Leadership Advisory Group and other League events and activities that focus on young leaders at credit unions,” the ICUL said. “He was a member of the League Board from 2012-2021, and he was League chairman from 2015-2016.

“His advocacy on behalf of credit unions has included meeting and working directly with legislators and regulators, traveling to Washington, D.C. for many interactions, and hosting a member of Congress at his credit union,” the league continued. “Additionally, Lambert has served the national credit union movement as a member of CUNA committees that focus on consumer financial protection and cooperative alliances.”

Added Lambert, “This industry and movement are such an exceptional place to spend a career. It is a true honor to even be considered for the Indiana Credit Union Hall of Fame and being officially inducted alongside so many other distinguished and successful leaders is a personal highlight of my career.”

Emerging Leadership Award

Jeanna Richardson of Hoosier United CU has been named as a recipient of the 2022 Emerging Leadership Award from the Indiana Credit Union League.

Richardson, who is VP-operations, has been an “integral part of the growth and success of Hoosier United CU. She is responsible for ensuring the credit union’s day-to-day operations run smoothly, and she is also responsible for implementing and finding vendors that meet the credit union’s needs in the areas of ACH payments, text messaging, e-forms, and e-signatures,” the league said. “Her colleagues cite her positivity and professionalism among Jeanna’s best traits.”

The Emerging Leadership Award was developed in order to recognize the next generation of credit union leaders in Indiana for their accomplishments and for their potential to be an Indiana credit union leader in the future, the league said.

He also represented Indiana when he was selected to “crash the GAC,” attending a major national governmental affairs event with a group of other young leaders.

Foley is assistant president – retail delivery Operations. She was named to this position after earning several promotions over her seven years with the credit union.

Leadership Achievement Award

Rick Rambo, board treasurer at FORUM CU, has been named the Indiana Credit Union League’s 2021 recipient of the Leadership Achievement Award.

“He has loyally served on the credit union board for 25 years and has been treasurer for more than 20 years,” the league said. “His knowledge of FORUM CU financials and his understanding of the cooperative model is vital to the success of the credit union. As treasurer, he leads the Asset-Liability Committee meetings and is an active participant in shaping the credit union’s fiscal blueprint to best serve it 180,000 members.”

According to the ICUL, he has also served as a liaison between the FORUM CU board and the FORUM Foundation, which grants college scholarships and educator classroom grants to members. In the community, he is a vocal advocate for credit union memvershi8p and the benefits the cooperative model has for Indiana residents, the league said.

The Leadership Achievement Award recognizes credit union volunteers/officials who have given selflessly to promote the credit union ideal and to better the credit union movement in Indiana.

Global Good Award

Dallas Bergl, president/CEO of INOVA FCU in Elkhart, has received the Indiana Credit Union League’s 2022 Chairman’s Global Good Award.

Established in 2019, the award recognizes involvement in global or domestic projects that further credit unions and their values with immigrant populations, or in foreign countries, the league said.

Bergl is a board member of the World Council of Credit Unions, and he is also on the board of its foundation.

“Thanks to his representation and influence, credit union leaders from around the world have visited Indiana and Indiana leaders have traveled abroad to assist credit unions in other countries,” the league said. “Visitors have come from Costa Rica, the Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Guatemala, the Netherlands, Ireland, and the island nation of Dominica.

‘Instrumental Role’

“Notably, Bergl was instrumental in putting together a delegation from Indiana to assist credit unions in Dominica in 2018 after a hurricane devastated the island,” the league continued. “He has also represented Indiana and the worldwide credit union movement through presentations he has made at World Council events in the Bahamas and the Netherlands.

“The League and Indiana’s credit unions were recognized by the World Council with its 2020 Distinguished Service Award,” the ICUL continued. “While this award pays tribute to the work of many people and credit unions, without Bergl’s leadership of global credit union efforts on behalf of Indiana, it would not have been possible.”
