Numerica CU Buys Naming Rights To Ice Skating Ribbon, SkyRide Over River

SPOKANE, Wash.–Numerica Credit Union and the Spokane Parks and Recreation Department have reached an agreement giving Numerica naming rights to two of

the biggest attractions in the city’s Riverfront Park.

For $90,000 annually, two of the biggest attractions on the Columbia River will now be named the Numerica Skate Ribbon and the Numerica SkyRide. The SkyRide features gondolas that travel over the river, which rushes over waterfalls and rapids in this city’s downtown.

The funds are to go to programs such as skating lessons, free skate night and other low-cost programs for the community. It could also be used for park operations, according to the Spokesman-Review.

Spokane Park Board President Nick Sumner told the publication sponsorships could allow the Parks Department to offer programs that may not normally be available and that the board would also only choose sponsors that align with the Parks Department’s mission and that give back to their community.

What the Deal Includes

The skate ribbon opened in 2017, replacing the more traditional Ice Palace rink. The SkyRide has been a part of Riverfront Park since 1974.

Numerica’s name will be on signs around the skate ribbon, SkyRide and ice machine and have its name used in park marketing. The credit union also will have the right to plan a summer event and a winter event in the park area, and will have its name used in marketing for the city’s annual tree-lighting ceremony, according to the Spokesman Review.
