MADISON, Wis.—Two new representatives will represent CUNA on the board of the World Council of Credit Unions (WOCCU). Notably, both are women, which will triple the number of women currently on the WOCCU board.
CUNA reported that its executive committee voted last week to appoint Carla Altepeter, president/CEO of Numerica CU, Spokane Valley, Wash., and Diana Dykstra, president/CEO of the California and Nevada Credit Union Leagues, to World Council’s board.
Altepeter will immediately fill the unexpired director term of Louisiana Credit Union League President/CEO Anne Cochran, who resigned her position as one of CUNA’s representatives to World Council. Cochran most recently served as chair of World Council, CUNA explained.
Pat Jury, president/CEO of the Iowa Credit Union League, announced his intention to resign from the WOCCU board, effective Dec. 31. He currently serves as first vice chair of World Council. The CUNA executive committee voted to appoint Dykstra to fill that director position effective Jan. 1, 2017. Both Altepeter's and Dykstra's terms expire July 2017, CUNA said.
The WOCCU board has 12 members who are appointed by various member organizations. CUNA is entitled to appoint four members. Prior to the new appointments, the lone female member of the board had been Martha Durdin of the Canadian Credit Union Association.
