SEATAC, Wash.–The Northwest Credit Union Association (NWCUA) has announced the results of its board elections.
Kent Oram, president and CEO of Idaho Central Credit Union, has been elected chairman of the NWCUA board. Oram replaces John Zmolek, president and CEO of Verity Credit Union, who served on the board for six years.
Oram was elected during a board reorganization meeting, immediately following the association’s first-ever virtual Annual Business Meeting, the NWCUA said. He joined the association’s board of directors in 2019 after the merger between NWCUA and the Idaho Credit Union League, most recently serving as the NWCUA board’s vice chairman.
The NWCUA said Oram has dedicated more than 30 years to ICCU, beginning his credit union career in 1984, and eventually being named president and CEO of ICCU in 2007. Under his leadership, the credit union has grown from $600 million in assets to more than $6 billion. In 2014, Oram was inducted into the Credit Union Executive Society’s Hall of Fame.
“Under Kent’s leadership, the Northwest Credit Union Movement will continue to thrive and grow,” said Troy Stang, NWCUA president and CEO. “The Association is pleased to welcome its first Idaho credit union leader as board chairman.”
In a statement, Oram said he is proud of all that Idaho, Oregon, and Washington credit unions achieved throughout 2020, noting their exemplary service to members and Main Street, and said he’s optimistic for what’s to come in 2021.
“I look forward to next year,” Oram said. “The Northwest Credit Union Association is a powerful voice, not only for credit unions in our three states, but across the nation.”
