‘No Credit Union Left Behind Store’ Opened by Louisiana League as Fundraiser to Help Small CUs

HARAHAN, La.–The Louisiana League has opened what it is calling a “No Credit Union Left Behind Store” with a goal of raising funds to support credit unions of less than $50 million in assets.

“To magnify the collaborative voices of ‘No Credit Union Left Behind,’ the Louisiana Credit Union Foundation has created a small, but mighty, ensemble of apparel to allow everyone to wear their support,” the league said.

Proceeds from the sales will benefit the Louisiana Credit Union Foundation.

The Louisiana league reminded that NCUA defines CUs with assets less than $50 million as being “small,” a threshold under which 48% of America’s credit unions fall.

The league said the effort follows a comment LCUL President/CEO Juan Fernandez made during a panel discussion in which he used the phrase “no credit union left behind” to emphasize the important task of creating opportunities for “all credit unions to thrive.”

Seeking to ‘Amplify’ Role

"As the initiative that no credit union should be left behind grows, we want to amplify the significant role that small credit unions play in the credit union movement and ensure that every credit union - no matter the size- has the tools they need to thrive and deliver for their communities," stated Fernandez.
