KINGSTON, N.Y. — Two credit union have announced field of membership expansions.
In New York, Mid-Hudson Valley Federal Credit Union said it has received approval to expand to service businesses and individuals who live, work, worship, or attend school in the counties of Westchester, Rockland, Putnam, and Sullivan.
The credit union was founded in 1964 as the IBM Kingston Employees FCU. In 2002, it expanded its FOM to serve the New York Counties of Ulster, Dutchess, and Orange.
The $1.1-billion Mid-Hudson Valley FCU has more than 79,000 members.
Expansion in California
Meanwhile, in Antioch, Calif., the $45.6-million Dow Great Western Credit Union said it has expanded its field of membership to those who live, work, worship or attend school in Alameda, Contra Costa and Solano counties. These counties collectively have a population of more than 3.25 million people, making it the largest field of membership expansion in the credit union’s 81-year history, the credit union said.
Originally founded to serve the employees of Dow Chemical Co. in Pittsburg, Dow Credit Union expanded its charter in 2008 to serve communities in the eastern part of Contra Costa County.
“We are very proud of what we have been able to do for our communities and are excited to be able to bring those opportunities to new areas,” said Dow Credit Union CEO Paul Kramer. “Serving Contra Costa, Solano and Alameda counties is a great opportunity for us and for these communities.”
