NASHVILLE, Tenn.–Two CUs have started the new year with new names.
The former Electric Service Credit Union has plugged into a new moniker: Enbright Credit Union.
Electric Service Credit Union, initially chartered in 1951 by the employees of Nashville Electric Service, has since expanded to a community charter serving Davidson and Sumner counties in Tennessee.
The $65-million Enbright serves more than 7,000 members.
Separately, in Baltimore Saint Agnes FCU has kicked off the new year with a new name. The credit union is now called Five Star Federal Credit Union.
In a statement, the CU said the new name "emphasizes the five-star service" while also recognizing that the credit union's membership includes local businesses in addition to Saint Agnes Hospital employees and their families.
The $51.4-million credit union was founded as Saint Agnes Employees Federal Credit Union by hospital employees in October 1969.
While Five Star is the only federal credit union with that name, there are two state-chartered Five Star Credit Unions, one each in Alabama and Florida.
