New President/CEO to Succeed the Retiring Kevin Wilmoth Named by Skyward Credit Union

WICHITA, Kan. – Skyward Credit Union has named a new president and CEO to succeed Kevin Wilmoth, who will be stepping down effective Jan. 31, 2025.

The $413.6-million Skyward Credit Union said it has selected Kevin Brittain as the new CEO, effective June 24, 2024. 

Through the remainder of this year, Wilmoth and Brittain will “work closely together to ensure a smooth transition for staff and members,” the credit union said in a statement.

Brittain has 24 years’ experience in financial services, and was most recently senior vice president with Capitol Federal Savings Bank.

“On behalf of the board, I want to thank Kevin Wilmoth for his valuable contributions to Skyward Credit Union over the past 27 years,” Chair Holly Dixon said in a statement. “During his time as CEO, we have seen a significant increase in credit union members, and he has helped advance our technology for operational excellence. Wilmoth’s steadfast leadership has been crucial to the growth of our credit union. The board, volunteers and staff appreciate all the time and effort Kevin has put into growing Skyward Credit Union.

“As we wish Kevin Wilmoth farewell, we are delighted to welcome Kevin Brittain as our new CEO,” Dixon continued. “His exceptional leadership skills, strategic insights, and deep industry knowledge make him the ideal choice to lead Skyward Credit Union. We have great confidence in his ability to steer the credit union towards greater achievements in the future.  We welcome Kevin Brittain and his family into the Skyward Family.”

The 20,500-member credit union said Brittain’s enthusiasm for embracing cutting-edge technologies and fostering a culture of innovation will be instrumental in driving Skyward’s continued growth and market leadership.

“Under his guidance, we are confident the credit union will continue to expand its reach while creating lasting value,” Skyward CU said.

Educational, Professional Background

Brittain is a Kansas native and a graduate of Wichita State University, with a degree in business administration and management, and a mini masters in the business administration certificate program. In 2021 he was honored in Wichita Business Journal's 40 under 40.

Currently, Brittain serves on the Wichita State University’s Center for Real Estate, as well as on the city of Garden Plain’s Planning Commission. He has previously served on the board for Consumer Credit Counseling Services and Junior Achievement of Wichita, and has volunteered for multiple organizations including United Way, Ronald McDonald House, and Pando Initiative.
