New Jersey CU Expands FOM, Introduces New Name

NEWARK, N.J.–Newark Board of Education Employees Credit Union has expanded its field of membership and is changing its name and branding.

The $25.7-million CU is now United Cities Credit Union. The name change comes after it was approved to expand from a single SEG charter to a community charter. State regulators have signed off on an FOM expansion to serve those who live, work or worship in the East Orange, Irvington, Maplewood, Newark, Orange and South Orange communities in New Jersey.

The credit union, chartered in 1935, has approximately 3,400 members. Its website does not yet feature the new branding.
