New ‘Credit Union Women Making History—Herstory’ Exhibit Debuts at America’s CU Museum

MANCHESTER, N.H.–In conjunction with International Women’s Day 2022, America’s Credit Union Museum (ACUM) said it has launched a new “Credit Union Women Making History – Herstory” exhibit.

The exhibit honors the “past, present and future of the incredible women making history in the credit union industry,” ACUM said, adding Herstory will be an interactive exhibit showcasing incredible stories never heard before.

The new exhibit will premiere at the American Credit Union Museum’s 20thAnniversary celebration in September 2022. In addition to a physical display at the museum, the exhibit will have an online presence that shares stories through virtual visits.

“There are so many important women in the credit union movement whose stories have never been shared beyond their own credit unions,” said Stephanie Smith, executive director at America’s Credit Union Museum. “We are excited to bring these stories to life through this interactive exhibit as we celebrate the 20-year anniversary of the museum this year.”

In support of the “Herstory” exhibit, ACUM said PSCU will sponsor the “Present” segment of the exhibit, while the Illinois Credit Union League will sponsor the “Future” segment. The “Past” segment is still available for sponsorship.

‘Shared Commitment to Elevating Women’

“The museum’s dedication to honoring the many incredible women in the credit union industry is inspiring,” said Merry Pateuk, SVP-industry engagement at PSCU. “Our shared commitment to elevating women in the credit union space makes this partnership a natural fit, and we are excited to be a part of this historical exhibit.”
Added Tom Kane, president and CEO of the Illinois league, “We couldn’t be more thrilled to support the future of women in the credit union industry. There is so much opportunity for women in the credit union movement to continue making their mark and inspiring others to continue the momentum of those who have paved the way.”
