New CEOs Named in Sunshine, Beehive States

PROVO, Utah—Credit unions in Utah and Florida have named new CEOs.

Following a career that’s spanned more than four decades, Jeff Sermon announced his retirement as president and CEO of Utah Community Credit Union effective March 31.

The credit union announced he will be succeeded by Executive Vice President Bret VanAusdal.

Sermon began his career with Utah Community in 1976, when he was the sixth employee hired. During his career at the CU he has worked as a loan officer, branch manager, vice president and executive vice president. He was named president and CEO in 2003.

Sermon has overseen growth to more than $1 billion in assets and 170,000 members.

VanAusdal has more than 34 years’ experience in financial services, including 22 years at Utah Community.

Meanwhile, in Panama City, Fla., Bay Credit Union has removed the “interim” from its interim CEO’s title. The $82-million CU has named Bob Little officially as its president and CEO, after having been in an interim role since October of 2017.

Little has more than 30 years’ financial services experience, most recently in Ocala, Fla., as a city president of a regional bank.

“I am very honored to be asked to stay and look forward to making Panama City and Bay Credit Union my home,” Little said in a statement.

The credit union, which has more than 9,700 members, also named Stefania Jones as vice president and chief financial officer.
