New CEOs Named at Two Credit Unions

RUTLAND, Vt.– Two credit unions have named new leaders.

In Vermont, the $737.1-million Heritage Family Credit Union has named Christopher Gomez and president and CEO to succeed the retiring Matthew Levandowski.

Christopher Gomez

Gomez most recently served as chief experience officer with the $1.4-billion Mid-Hudson Valley FCU in upstate New York.

“I am extremely honored and excited to have the opportunity to lead the continued growth and prosperity of one of Vermont’s premier financial institutions,” said Gomez in a statement. “I look forward to working with the board, leadership team, and staff on delivering on our mission and providing valuable service to the members of Heritage Family Credit Union.”

Gomez has more than 20 years’ experience in the financial services industry.

The retiring Levandowski has been with the credit union for 30 years, the last 10 as president and CEO.

Chris is committed to providing world class service and value to our members, and we look forward to the continued success and growth of Heritage Family under his leadership.”

The credit union has more than 50,000 members.

New CEO in Massachusetts

Separately, in Springfield, Mass., the $354-million MassMutual FCU has named Lisa Asadourian as its next president and CEO, succeeding Dave Plantier, who has retired after 38 years of service. 

Asadourian has more than 20 years of experience in credit unions, including 20 at Nutmeg FCU in Connecticut, where she oversaw marketing, brand management, human resources, recruitment, talent development, training, business development, community outreach, and strategic partnerships.

Asadourian worked in various roles from director of marketing to VP-marketing to SVP-chief engagement officer until her departure in 2020.

Asadourian most recently served as COO of New Reach, Inc. She is also the founder and serves as an Officer of New Reach Lending Co. in New Haven, Conn., which delivers financial stability to low-income, underserved/underbanked people, lacking access to financing by founding a Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI) Loan Fund.

‘Truly Excited’

"I am truly excited and grateful for the opportunity to lead MassMutual Federal Credit Union as its next president and CEO,” said Asadourian. “I want to thank the board for their confidence and trust in me, and I am looking forward to working with the team and serving our members."

Asadourian holds a bachelor's degree from the University of Connecticut, and a master's degree from Post University, in Waterbury, Conn. Asadourian currently serves as a board member of the Connecticut River Valley Chamber of Commerce.
