KINGSPORT, Tenn.–Credit unions in two states have named new CEOs.
In Tennessee, the $63-million Horizon CU has named Mark Drinnon to lead the organization. Drinnon previously served as COO and succeeds Beverly Boling, who retired.
“Bev had a good thing going here and we will try to keep it moving forward. Of course, we’ll always work to make things better, but if something isn’t broke, there’s no need to fix it,” Drinnon said in a Q&A posted on the credit union’s website.
Boling began his career at the credit union in 1979 in what was then the Municipal Employees Credit Union, which operated out of the basement of a former city hall building. During her tenure, the credit union has gone from managing less than $ 500,000 in assets to its current size, fueled in part by a number of mergers that led to the formation of Horizon CU in 2014.
Drinnon joined Horizon CU in 2013 as chief operating officer. He has more than 40 years of loan and compliance experience.
Horizon CU has 21 employees, three branches and nearly 5,000 members.
New Hampshire FCU Names New Leader
Meanwhile, in Concord, N.H., the $325-million New Hampshire FCU has selected Anthony “Tony” L. Emerson to lead the organization and succeed John Young, who is retiring at the end of 2021 after serving NHFCU for more than 35 years, the last 27 as president/CEO.
Emerson previously served as president & CEO of IC FCU in Fitchburg, Mass., and prior to that as president/CEO of the Credit Union League of Connecticut. While with the league Emerson was responsible for creating new compliance, marketing, branding, information technology, and asset/liability management programs to support the league’s affiliated credit unions, the credit union said.
In addition, Emerson has served as VP of finance/accounting/operations at Maine Savings FCU and VP/CFO for Penobscot County FCU in Maine.
‘Excited Beyond Words’
“I am excited beyond words to have been chosen as the next president/CEO of the New Hampshire Federal Credit Union,” said Emerson. “I have a long and memorable history with the state, and I am enthusiastic about returning to the Granite State to work with a dedicated board, staff, and loyal membership. I look forward to working with all of the credit union’s stakeholders in order to grow, diversify, and enhance product and service offerings for the membership.”
Emerson holds a Doctorate in Business Administration from the International School of Management, New York, and has served as an officer in the Air Force, board member of the Fitchburg State Foundation, The Health Foundation of Central Massachusetts, and as vice chairman of the Boys and Girls Club of Northern Central Massachusetts.
The search was completed in partnership with Humanidei + O’Rourke.
New Hampshire FCU has approximately 14,000 members.
