Nevada CU Reps Meet With Officials; Congresswoman Offers to Set Up Meeting on AI

SACRAMENTO, Calif.—Representatives of Nevada’s credit unions met with two elected officials, with one representative offering to set up a meeting between credit unions and one of the nation’s leading universities on the issue of artificial intelligence.

The meetings were held with Sen. Jacky Rosen (D) and Rep. Susie Lee (D), who represented Nevada’s 3rd district, according to CUNA.

Lee pledged to connect credit unions with experts on artificial intelligence at Carnegie Mellon – her alma mater – as CUs join with a broad spectrum of industries in seeking to adequately respond to and leverage a rapidly developing technology.

Also Discussed

In addition, the credit union delegation also discussed with Lee:

  • Issues related to stablecoins, including  protecting consumers, ensuring stablecoin issuers undergo same rigorous exams as credit unions, and development of a federal oversight framework.
  • The Credit Card Competition Act. According to CUNA, Rosen has “deep understanding” on the importance of fraud protection, and how interchange fees help pay for fraud protection measures, the league shared.
