ST. PAUL, Minn.– NetGiver, a philanthropy app owned by the Minnesota Credit Union Network, has become the first CUSO to join the companies that are part of Seattle-based BECU’s Fintech Incubator.
In its fourth year, this 12-month-long fintech program is designed to help grow and support startups in the financial industry while promoting innovation, according to the company.
The Incubator operates in partnership with the University of Washington’s CoMotion Labs, and seeks to combine BECUʼs leadership in broad-based financial services, data analysis, and consumer engagement with CoMotionʼs incubation, innovation, and technology commercialization expertise.
Over the course of the coming year, NetGiver said it will have access to mentors located across the country, with experience not just in the credit union space but in all aspects of growing a fintech.
‘Invaluable Insight’
“These mentors provide invaluable insight into the issues credit unions are facing in the industry, supporting NetGiver to grow and help fill these needs,” the organization said.
According to NetGiver, it brings a “unique offering to the credit union movement, allowing for the value alignment of credit unions, their members, and their community.”
“BECUʼs partnership with UW CoMotion allows us to support startups who will help foster innovation in the financial services industry,” said Alysha Dalessi, BECUʼs associate product manager of digital innovation. “We are proud of the opportunity to work with NetGiver to increase the financial well-being of our communities for the long-term. NetGiverʼs ability to bring giving to nonprofits that matter most to members is exciting and we can’t wait to see how they grow.”
What’s Ahead
In partnership with BECU and CoMotion, NetGiver said it will be developing case studies into optimal methods of deployment, performing user research, and beta testing potential new features and processes.
“NetGiverʼs team will spend significant time in Seattle working alongside the incubatorʼs mentors and advisors, making the most of their experience and guidance,” the CUSO said.
