Navy FCU Branch Named As Navy’s National Distinguished CU Of The Year

DOUGHERTY COUNTY, Ga.—A branch of Navy FCU located on the Albany Marine Corps Logistics Base here has been named the Navy's National Distinguished Credit Union of the Year due to its service after January’s major storms.

The Navy Federal branch aboard the MCLB was nominated by the base commander, Colonel James Carroll, WALB-TV reported.

Carroll said the branch reopened quickly following the January storms, that damaged many base properties and homes of Marine base personnel.

The branch offered emergency relief loans for those impacted and stayed open extra hours to help the Marines temporarily relocated from South Carolina, the news station reported.

The credit union employees also volunteered in the community with disaster cleanup.

The $82-billion Navy FCU is based in Vienna, Va.
