WASHINGTON–The National Credit Union Foundation has named the recipients of the 2020 Herb Wegner Memorial Awards for Outstanding Individual Achievement.
Winning the highest recognition offered by credit unions in the U.S. are John Fiore, Teresa Freeborn and Maurice R. Smith.
- John Fiore is a director with Andigo Credit Union and Director Emeritus with Alloya Corporate Federal Credit Union in Illinois. Fiore has spent more than 50 years in credit unions and was formerly CEO of Motorola Employees Credit Union.
- Teresa Freeborn is resident and Chief Executive of Xceed Financial Credit Union in California and has chaired since its inception the advisory group that has steered CUNA’s ‘Open Your Eyes’ initiative.
- Maurice R. Smith is CEO of Local Government Federal Credit Union in North Carolina and past chairman of CUNA. He continues to serve on its executive committee.
The honorees will be celebrated at the annual Foundation Dinner on Feb. 24th, 2020 at the Marriot Marquis in conjunction with CUNA’s Governmental Affairs Conference.
