Nation’s Oldest CU Has New CEO, While a New Chief Also Named at SDFEFCU

MANCHESTER, N.H.–Two credit unions have named new leadership.

Ken Senus

In New Hampshire, the nation’s oldest credit union, St. Mary’s Bank, has named Ken Senus to lead the organization.

Senus, who had been serving as executive VP/COO since March 2017, becomes the ninth chief executive officer in the credit union’s 114-year history. Senus succeeds Ron Covey, who retired after 14 years.

“I am thrilled and honored by this opportunity to continue to build on the solid foundation Ron has helped establish,” said Senus.

As EVP/COO, the $1.480-billion St. Mary’s Bank said Senus oversaw its business operations, including member contact center, information technology, loan operations and servicing, deposit operations, including electronic services, finance/accounting, and the retail branch network.

In the latter role, he helped expand the credit union’s membership and geographic presence, the credit union said.

“I look forward to continuing to leverage technology and innovation to enhance our member and employee experiences, while embracing the credit union philosophy to give back to the community that Ron exemplified for years,” Senus said in a statement.

St. Mary’s Bank has more than 115,000 members.

Education & Background

A resident of Londonderry, N.H., Senus has a Bachelors’ Degree in Accounting from Utica College of Syracuse University. He also volunteers his time for a number of organizations, including Catholic Medical Center, Co-op Co-Creation Council, Symitar, NH Catholic Charities, Stay Work Play, and Boys & Girls Club of Manchester. He is past president of the Londonderry Rotary Club.
