FRANKFORT, Ky.–Two credit unions have announced new names.
In this state’s capital, Kentucky Employees Credit Union, better known as KECU, has a new name. The $80-million CU is now called Expree Credit Union following a ribbon-cutting on its office.
“We chose the name Expree because it really checked all the boxes for us. It captures the spirit of our organization and the people who work and bank with us – and it helps tell our story,” said Expree Board Chair Paul Royce in a statement. “It’s our staff that make a difference in our communities by delivering personalized Kentucky-crafted financial solutions for everyone.”
KECU’s FOM includes anyone who lives, works, or worships in the Bluegrass Area and Kentuckiana Development Districts, as well as state, federal, city and county government employees, government retirees, and family members.
Expree CEO/President John Graham added in the statement it’s the individual dedicated focus on members that sets Expree Credit Union apart from other financial institutions.
“We create custom handcrafted solutions for all our members’ financial needs and we strive to handle each individual with care,” Graham said.
‘Spirited Banking’
The new name also comes with a new tagline: Spirited Banking.
“Spirited Banking resonates here in Frankfort and all over. Spirited Banking comes in many forms. Kentuckians embrace our unbridled spirit. We’re home to some of the oldest spirit distilleries in the nation. The spirits embodied by our staff set us apart. Simply, it fits,” said Graham.
Successful Name Change in Arkansas
Meanwhile, in Blytheville, Ark., Northeast Arkansas FCU has changed its name as part of a new brand strategy and efforts to serve an expanded field of membership in the northeastern Arkansas/southeastern Missouri region.
The $127-million CU is now called Success Federal Credit Union.
“Our new name is a continued focus on our commitment to our members, our employees, and our community,” said Sherry Gray, president and CEO of Success Credit Union in a statement. “We’re independent, financially strong, and passionate about serving our local community. We want our members to have a strong connection to a financial institution that cares about them and their continued success.”
The name change will include updated branding, according to TalkBusiness.net.
‘Commitment’ Is the Same
“While our brand and logo will look different, our commitment remains the same: empowering our members to improve their financial well-being and succeed,” added Jennifer Fancher, director of marketing and business development, in a statement. “Our members will continue to receive exceptional products and services, and we’re excited to introduce the Success Credit Union difference to a new generation of members.”
As part of the new name, Success Credit Union has also launched an updated website — successcreditunion.com — and opened a new branch.
The credit union was founded in 1959 as Blytheville FCU and has gone through several mergers since then. It has more than 25,000 members.
