NJ League Latest To Tackle Issue of Dual Membership

HIGHTSTOWN, N.J.–The New Jersey Credit Union League has become the latest to say it will look at the issue of league/CUNA “dual membership.” The league board will discuss the issue when it meets on Dec. 3.

“It is important that the board of directors has thoughtful dialogue around this issue and credit union leaders understand what membership without the benefits of CUNA partnership looks like,” said league CEO Greg Michlig in a statement first reported by the league. “The existing three-tiered system with credit unions, leagues and CUNA, constitutes an advocacy machine that is the envy of associations throughout the country, including our chief competitors. It is important to take the time to consider this carefully, while also contemplating the value of choice,” he continued.

In advance of the December 3rd meeting, the league said it is encouraging New Jersey CUs to share their thoughts on this topic with league board members via e-mail.
