JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – With the NFL’s Jacksonville Jaguars 25th season is underway, the team has launched a new weekly podcast called “Perspectives,” that is being presented by VyStar Credit Union.
The podcast features first-person accounts from the early years, beginning with former head coach and current EVP-Football Operations Tom Coughlin.
“It’s keeping your nose to the grindstone and trying to judge improvement rather than wins,” said Coughlin in the first episode of the podcast when discussing the inaugural season. “I was very hard on them. We were a unified team…they were all unified because they hated me, but they played and even that first team might have been one of the toughest teams that I’ve ever been around.”
“Perspectives” is hosted by Jaguars Senior Correspondent Brian Sexton, the first-ever “Voice of the Jaguars.” Sexton became the youngest-ever NFL radio play-by-play announcer when he was hired in 1994 and is still one of only three people to have attended all 501 Jaguars game in history, both home and away, regular season and preseason, according to the team.
‘So Much Effort’
"It took so much effort from so many people to build this franchise that it would be impossible to tell every story,” said Sexton in a statement. “I wanted Perspectives to be centered around the stories that they wanted to tell, that come to mind when they thought of the early days on and off the field. I'm thrilled with what we got and am eager for Jaguars fans to hear from the people they know but to hear something deeper, more intimate than they have ever heard before. It was a deeply personal project for me and I'm excited to share it."
The Jaguars Podcast Network will also feature a variety of news, entertainment and storytelling content for fans, including Jags Drive Time, Jaguars Happy Hour, the Doug Marrone Show, as well as player and coach audio from press conferences and interviews.
