NCUA To Host Twitter Chat On Serving Adults With Disabilities

ALEXANDRIA, Va. – Noting that 20% of households headed by a working-age adult with disabilities lack access to traditional financial services, NCUA will be hosting a Twitter chat in conjunction with the National Disability Institute. The live chat is scheduled for Wednesday, Dec. 2, beginning at 11 a.m. ET.

During the chat staff from NCUA’s Office of Consumer Protection will be joined by experts from National Disability Institute, who will share key findings from the group’s 2015 report on the Banking Status and Financial Behaviors of Adults with Disabilities and discuss the role credit unions play in improving the financial well-being of persons with disabilities. NCUA will also share resources from the agency’s consumer website, MyCreditUnion.gov. Credit unions and consumers are encouraged to follow the conversation and contribute using the #NCUAChat hashtag on Twitter. The moderators will answer questions throughout the chat, and participants can submit questions beforehand to socialmedia@ncua.gov.
