NCUA To Host Budget Briefing, Board Meeting This Week

ALEXANDRIA, Va.—NCUA will be hosting its 2020-21 budget briefing this week, as well as a formal board meeting.

On Wednesday, beginning at 10 a.m. ET at its headquarters, the agency will provide an overview on its 2020-21 budget and then listen to comment from a select group of commenters.

The proposed 2020 operating budget is $316.2 million and includes an increase of three positions from the authorized 2019 staffing levels. The proposed budget summary and detailed budget justification are available on the Budget and Supplementary Materials page of NCUA.gov. The public comment period is open until Dec. 2.

On Thursday, the NCUA board Thursday will discuss a proposal on real estate appraisals, a final interpretive rule and policy statement on Chairman Rodney Hood’s “second chance” proposal and will receive an update on the National Credit Union Share Insurance Fund.

The Second Chance proposal would update and revise update and revise the existing IRPS regarding statutory prohibitions imposed by the Federal Credit Union Act, which prohibits, except with prior NCUA Board approval, any person who has been convicted of any criminal offense involving dishonesty or breach of trust, or who has entered into a pretrial diversion or similar program in connection with a prosecution for such offense, from participating in the affairs of an insured credit union, CUNA noted.
