NCUA Hosting Webinar This Week on COVID-19-Related Scams & The Elderly

ALEXANDRIA, Va. – NCUA this week will host a webinar offering an update on the impact of elder financial exploitation and other COVID-19 related scams.

The webinar is set for June 11.

According to NCUA, registration for the webinar, “Consumer Financial Protection Issues Impacting Older Adults,” is now open. Participants will be able to log into the webinar and view it on their computers or mobile devices using the registration link. They should allow pop-ups from this website.

The webinar is scheduled begin at 2 p.m. E.T. and run approximately 45 minutes.

NCUA said representatives from the its Office of Consumer Financial Protection, the CFPB’s Office of Financial Protection for Older Americans, and the SEC’s Office of Investor Education and Advocacy will provide:

  • An update on how consumer financial protection issues are impacting older adults
  • New information on COVID-19-related scams 
  • Other fraud prevention strategies and resources

Questions can be submitted in advance at  WebinarQuestions@ncua.gov. The email’s subject line should read, “Issues Impacting Older Adults.” Participants with technical questions about accessing the webinar may email audience.support@on24.com.
