NCUA Hosting Webinar On Assisting Small Businesses

ALEXANDRIA, Va.—NCUA is hosting an upcoming webinar intended to help credit unions learn how to assist member small businesses while helping the CU’s own bottom line.

Titled “Micro-Enterprise Lending – Making Loans to Small Businesses,” the free 90-minute webinar is scheduled for Wednesday, July 13, at 2 p.m. E.T. Online registration is available here.

Participants will use this same link to log into the webinar. Registrants should allow pop-ups from this website.

Tom Penna, an economic development specialist with NCUA’s Office of Small Credit Union Initiatives, will host a panel that includes NCUA Region II regional lending specialist William McMasters; Melissa Marquez, chief executive officer of Genesee Coop Federal Credit Union; and Dan Kelley, chief financial officer and vice president of finance for Seaboard Federal Credit Union.

The panel will discuss a variety of topics, including:

  • Crafting a sound micro-enterprise business lending policy;
  • Distinguishing between micro-enterprise business loans and member business loans;
  • Understanding collateral requirements and expectations; and
  • Using best practices in collections.
