ALEXANDRIA, Va.—NCUA is hosting an upcoming webinar intended to help credit unions learn how to assist member small businesses while helping the CU’s own bottom line.
Titled “Micro-Enterprise Lending – Making Loans to Small Businesses,” the free 90-minute webinar is scheduled for Wednesday, July 13, at 2 p.m. E.T. Online registration is available here.

Tom Penna, an economic development specialist with NCUA’s Office of Small Credit Union Initiatives, will host a panel that includes NCUA Region II regional lending specialist William McMasters; Melissa Marquez, chief executive officer of Genesee Coop Federal Credit Union; and Dan Kelley, chief financial officer and vice president of finance for Seaboard Federal Credit Union.
The panel will discuss a variety of topics, including:
- Crafting a sound micro-enterprise business lending policy;
- Distinguishing between micro-enterprise business loans and member business loans;
- Understanding collateral requirements and expectations; and
- Using best practices in collections.
